WORCESTER, Mass. — The race was on this weekend to find the best hot dog in Worcester County.
For the 11th time, a hungry and eager group took part in the Worcester Hot Dog Safari Saturday.
People received scorecards and were asked to sample hot dogs from six locations in the area, including the defending champs Schultzy’s Place in Sutton.
Mama Roux was declared the winner for 2022.
The delicious day was all for a good cause, with proceeds going to the Worcester County Food Bank.
“When we started doing this, it was kind of silly and just a goofy thing and we were having fun with it,” event co-founder Bryan O’Donnell said. “And now to see how many people are joining us in that and it’s kind of kept the same spirit. Just being able to raise the money that everyone has raised for the Worcester County Food Bank, it’s really special, it’s really exciting and it’s a little overwhelming to be honest with you.”
The Worcester Hot Dog Safari says this year’s event had a record number of participants with over 350 people estimated to have taken part.
