It's been 23 years since Molly Bish went missing from Comins Pond in Warren on June 27, 2000. The 16-year-old's body was found almost three years later and no one has been charged with her murder.
Earlier this month, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said the person they identified in 2021 as a person of interest, Francis Sumer Sr., is still being looked at. DA Joseph Early Jr. went as far as calling Sumner, who died in 2016, a suspect.
Molly's sister, Heather Bish, said there hasn't been a lot of communication with the DA, and not a lot of information as to why there's a focus on Sumner.
"I will find other ways to find the person who did this,” Bish said. “It might not be through technology, it might not be through DNA experts. It might be through a podcast. It might be through going back and talking to the people who were initially involved. There's still a lot of fire in my fight. I will continue my work to find the person who did this."
Bish has asked for the case to be handled by the Hampden County DA’s Office. She also wrote legislation now being looked at by state lawmakers that would allow police to submit unknown DNA samples to ancestry websites to look for family members of potential suspects.
