Be Like Brit is closing their Worcester office on July 15 and transitioning to remote work. The nonprofit organization has been unable to send teams to Haiti for six years, leaving their office space largely unused. The foundation began in memory of Britney Gengel, who died in the 2010 Haiti earthquake and while they're simplifying operations here, Britney’s mother, Cherylann, said their work to support the children of Haiti remains unchanged.

"For us, our mission is our mission, and the goal is to raise the next generation of leaders in Haiti, help our children, and help our community,” Be Like Brit executive director, Cherylann Gengel, said. “Right now, we have 72 children living at Brit's Home. We have 125 Haitian employees, and we are part of a community down there. So, we will continue our work , it will just be different."
