WORCESTER, Mass. — The WPI football team has already doubled its win total from all of last season. The Engineers’ success is being fueled by a bunch of Central Mass. guys who love representing the area at the college level.
“Yeah, I think Central Mass is pretty under looked,” said safety Jake Robertson, “so to come out here with other Central Mass guys and do good and make a name for us, it’s something special.”
“I take a lot of pride in representing Central Mass,” said quarterback Dylan Gallo. “You know, it can be overlooked at times, but I think we have a lot of great guys that have come from Central Mass here, and it’s cool to, like, play against them in high school and then come to college and play with them after playing against them for so many years.”
“Yeah, I love representing CMASS,” said tight end Ethan Frisch. “You know, I played against so many of these guys, and I don’t know, just our bond is just super strong just because we’ve always played against each other and we’ve been friends forever, basically.”
“Yeah, growing up in the city of Worcester and being able to play for a college in Worcester, it’s an unbelievable opportunity,” said center Paul Saucier. “Something I would always dream of as a kid, and I’m just so thankful for every single day.”
The great news for WPI head coach Chris Robertson is that none of these local guys graduate this year. They’ll all be back.
