WORCESTER, Mass. - Fresh off a big win against Buffalo, Holy Cross welcomed in Yale to Fitton Field Saturday for the Crusaders' home opener. And what a statement it was by Bob Chesney and his team.

In the second quarter, the game was tied at 7, and the Crusaders broke out the trickery. Matthew Sluka got it to his wide receiver Jalen Coker who showed off his arm as he threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Purdy.

Later in the quarter, the Crusaders got it it done a little more conventionally. Sluka went deep to Ayir Asante who made the catch for the touchdown. Holy Cross was absolutely rolling and they weren't done.

In the second half, the Crusaders were up 28-7. Coker already showed off his arm, and this time he showed what he can do as a wide receiver, making the catch. He was gone for the score.

Holy Cross rolled to the 38-14 win. They are now 3-0 on the season. Head coach Bob Chesney was thrilled with his team’s performance.

“It was one of those complete games where I feel like everybody did their part," Chesney said. "I just thought it's something we should be really, really proud of because that's a very good football team, with very good football players, and very good coaches. I just thought we had a nice day today."

The Crusaders visit Colgate next Saturday as they open up Patriot League play. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
