WORCESTER, Mass. — The storybook season continues for the Holy Cross football team.

After winning a fourth straight Patriot League title and going undefeated in the regular season, the Crusaders hosted their first-ever second round FCS Playoff game at Fitton Field. Saturday's opponent UNH saw why the Crusaders haven't lost yet this year.

Senior Peter Oliver had himself a day, rushing 30 times for a career-high 175 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Matthew Sluka got it done with his legs, too. He ran 12 times for 103 yards and also had a pair of scores. After a slow first half, Holy Cross pulled away in the second half to advance to the quarterfinals, beating UNH 35-19.

Head Coach Bob Chesney said it's been a long road to get to where they are.

"We're on a mission, right," Chesney said. "I think when you boil it down, we're just on a mission. We know that whenever that mission fails, we're going home, right? And then the team looks different next year, you don't see these guys, and the game changes. Again, it takes that full year to put a trophy in the trophy case. This isn't decided today. This was decided somewhere long before that."

Up next for the Crusaders is a tough test in the quarterfinals, as they hit the road to face top-seeded South Dakota State. Kickoff is set for Saturday at noon.
