Representing Maine's 23rd District, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Mattie Daughtry was inspired to run for office because she believes young people can make a difference for their own generation as well as future generations.
Daughtry's favorite part of her job is learning something new every day, whether about policies, her constituents, or different parts of her district. The biggest thing she's learned during her time in office is that the Maine legislature is like a family, working together closely to serve the state.
Her first job was working as a reporter at the Times Record. If Daughtry could have lunch with any historical figure, she'd choose Julia Child and discuss everything from food to politics.
