Nick Buffo joined Spectrum News NECN as an Anchor/MMJ in June 2026.

Originally from the Midwest, Nick graduated from DePaul University with a degree in broadcast journalism before working in Madison, WI.

While reporting in the Midwest, he had his most impactful assignment when he was given the opportunity to cover a fulfilled dream: when a terminally ill Illinois child's wish was to go skiing, his family and Boy Scout troop made that dream come true. Buffo was honored to cover the event and humbled by the effort behind arranging the boy's special trip down the slope.

Before moving to New England, Nick kept viewers updated on the traffic situation in Charlotte with Spectrum News 1 North Carolina. He also covered nationally recognized stories, including the historic flooding in Western North Carolina caused by Hurricane Helene and North Carolina's battleground role in the 2024 election.

Nick is inspired by people's willingness to share personal stories, and hopes his viewers benefit from critical information that's easy to digest and helpful to the community. Such impactful storytelling has brought positive attention to his career — in 2017, he contributed to an Emmy-winning Best Evening Newscast for his coverage of an industrial plant explosion outside Madison, WI.

Nick enjoys exploring New England's beaches and mountains. When he's not reporting, he can be found searching for his new favorite restaurant, channeling his inner history buff as he explores the area's rich colonial past, or grabbing a delicious lobster roll.
