Boston, Mass. - Do you have what it takes to be the next voice greeting travelers at Boston’s Logan Airport? Massport is searching for the right voice to welcome those travelers.
Every entrant must recite the following passage:
“Welcome to Boston Logan International Airport! Front door to the capital of heart, hustle, and hometown pride. This city runs on iced coffee, raw ambition, and unbeatable team spirit. So, let’s go. Whether you’re grabbing a lobster roll by the harbor, waiting in line for a cannoli in the North End, heading out to Gloucester for a little salt air, or paying your respects to the Green Monster like it’s a sacred landmark (because it is)— we’re wicked glad you’re here.”
“Not only am I a proud Bostonian, but I’m also a proud Boston-based tenant and former gate agent,” said Kate from Boston. “So, I feel like I know a couple of things about announcing to the numerous amounts of passengers coming.”
They’re all trying to capture a little bit of what makes this place feel like home.
“I want them to feel the love of all of Boston as they come through the airport, and that’s why I want to be that voice,” Elizabeth Thomas of Milton, Mass., said.
Massport CEO Rich Davey says it all comes down to authenticity.
“I’m looking for somebody who maybe knows what the Blizzard of ’78 means and who Big Papi is,” he said. “An authentic Bostonian who can express their love for the city.”
Applications close in October, and over the next couple of months, all of these entrants will be whittled down into the top five competitors, where Davey says the public will then help them decide who will be the new voice of Logan in November.
More than 43 million people pass through these gates every year.
