One man has been arrested and charged with murder Tuesday in Peru.

Oxford County dispatchers received several 911 calls reporting a vehicle crash near 106-109 Auburn Road.

Callers reported that a truck stopped next to a car, and that a gun was shot from the truck.

“First responders arrived and observed a blue Hyundai on the side of the road with a deceased female in the driver’s seat,” police stated in a news release.

The victim was later identified as Dale Gaudreau, age 59.

Police say that David Gaudreau, 60, “called several family members and advised he shot his wife,” the news release stated.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., David Gaudreau surrendered to state police and the Oxford County Sheriff’s department, according to the release.

He was transported to the Oxford County Jail and charged with murder, the release states.
