Hundreds of people were left without power this morning in Alfred, after a car struck a utility pole, according to police.

The crash occurred on Jordan Spring Road near the Sheriff’s office entrance, according to York County Sheriff William King

“There is a motor vehicle crash involving a plow truck and a smaller vehicle,” King said in a statement released shortly before 7 a.m. “The smaller vehicle struck a utility pole causing it to break and spewing power lines across the road.”

The road was expected to be closed for several hours to allow Central Maine Power to make repairs.

No injuries were reported, but King asked motorists to avoid the area and find an alternate route.

CMP reported about 500 York County customers were without electricity as of 7:45 a.m.
