Two people are dead in an apparent murder-sucide in Searsmont.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Borough Road in Searsmont where two adults were found deceased shortly before 2 p.m. Nov. 27.

Following autopsies, the two were identified as Amy Nickerson, 50, of Stockton Springs, and Lance Lucas, 50, of Searsmont, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Nickerson’s death was ruled a homicide, Lucas’s death was ruled a suicide, according to the release. In both cases the cause of death was a gunshot wound.

“Nickerson and Lucas were domestic partners who had recently broken up,” the release stated.

State police are investigating the incident as a domestic violence homicide.
