The driver of a motorcycle was killed and his passenger injured Wednesday in a crash in Sebago, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders were dispatched to Convene Road at 5:48 p.m., according to Lt. Andrew Feeney.

Investigators believe Ernest Poulos, 63, of Sebago was traveling westbound on a 2004 Harley Davidson when he crossed into the oncoming lane before striking a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, Feeney said.

Poulos and his passenger, Mary Delaney, 62, of Sebago, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to Feeney. Neither were wearing a helmet.

Poulos was driven by ambulance to Bridgton Hospital to meet a Life Flight helicopter, but died upon arrival at the hospital, according to Feeney.

Delaney was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland and remains in critical condition, said Feeney.

The SUV’s driver sustained minor injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled.

“Speed appears to be a factor in this crash, and it remains under investigation,” Feeney said.
