A Gouldsboro woman was killed and others injured following a three-vehicle crash Sunday, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.
State police were dispatched to the crash at the intersection of Route 1 and Old Route 1 in Gouldsboro shortly before 7 p.m., according to department spokesperson Shannon Moss.
Courtney Washington, 46, of Bangor was driving a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek northbound on Old Route 1 when she allegedly ran a stop sign, Moss said, citing an initial investigation.
The Subaru Crosstrek struck a 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling eastbound on Route 1, according to Moss.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to spin into Route 1’s westbound lane of Route 1, Moss stated, where it was struck by a 2014 Subaru Legacy.
The Chevrolet rolled over because of the force of the impact, according to Moss.
The Chevrolet’s driver, Heather Allen, 39, of Ellsworth was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Moss.
Washington was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
A passenger in the Chevrolet and the Subaru Legacy’s driver were also hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Moss said.
“Route 1 was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash and crews cleared the scene,” Moss stated. “The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.”
